The Astrological Birth Chart

Astrology and an astrological reading of a birth chart is a most revealing guide to our life path. Increasingly astrology is being turned to by those seeking to understand, answer, clarify amid the uncertainty and confusions that prevent us moving forward with our lives, especially with problems we all face in today’s world.

Astrology can help to pinpoint issues arising in life and help us to make sense of them and to move forward with better understanding. It may be that understanding oneself allows us to accept who we are and handle difficulties or conflicts and be able to make sense of them. Astrology can help us to understand our relationship to our environment, what to us represents our world, and to seize opportunities when the time suggests it is right to do so.

That date, place and time we were born marks a significant moment. In astrology, this is the reference point for the astrological chart. This birth chart marks out planetary positions against the signs and houses of the zodiac, as well as distances expressed in degrees between each. The astrological birth chart represents symbolically all that goes to make up our potentials and their future expression.

The birth chart will point at our strengths, our vulnerabilities, make us aware of how better to deal with testing situations in life or to maximise opportunities rather than feel a victim to situations and only respond to the demands of what life throws at us without any control over such expression.

I believe astrology can help in understanding oneself. It can clarify those inner thoughts that we only wonder about. It confirms things about ourselves and helps to recognise and play to strengths and not our limitations and be in a better position to deal with future trends in life.

As way of example if a person with planets at birth were in the astrological sign of Capricorn and the basic process of Capricorn explained to the person, he or she can explore their own experiences of how this process reveals itself in their life.

It may be that in life, this person may need a sense of structure, constancy and conformity and these themes may be realised by the person in one or many ways. Perhaps it reflects in how they appear to others, their dress sense or perhaps personality. Perhaps it is their chosen work or their day-to-day routines, or a mixture of ways that carry this theme. It may be evident to the person already how this idea presents itself in their life. Talking through the essential themes of Capricorn can help a person to see how they live out such themes.

However, the fact that Uranus (planet of change and quick change at that) is approaching the Capricorn area of their astrological chart may be creating fears and uncertainty in our Capricorn person. This in turn may be disturbing their well-being, that order and structure this person needs in their life. They may be worrying and feel disturbed, perhaps they are withdrawing and retreating in some way. Perhaps their health is suffering through worry. In fact that part of their self and the way they express the Capricorn themes in their life for them is being threatened.

The value of knowing that there is a time of change enables a person, as in the above example, to better prepare and deal with it, also to understand its nature and how they are likely to respond and what it further means in their life. Maybe they are able to find their way through this time and call upon their strengths to deal with what is trying to come into being at this time in their life.

Astrology does not impose upon the individual what will be, but assists in finding the significance of whatever experience, by getting in touch with the process behind it.
